The hands are a gateway to the heart. Let everything you touch be caressed with the intention of love and grace.
Hands are more than just functional; they are an energy map of our consciousness and health. Each area of the hand corresponds to a certain area of the body and to different emotions and behaviors.
Did you know that each one of our fingers is connected to a planet? ⠀
The thumb is connected to Venus and Mars: it represents the ‘id’ individual persona or ego and Victory. ⠀
The index finger is connected to Jupiter: Jupiter shows the path, it is the teacher and represents expansion.⠀
The middle finger is connected to Saturn: representing the taskmaster, the law of karma, the taking of responsibility and the courage to hold to duty.⠀
The ring finger is connected to the Sun and Uranus: The Sun represents energy, health and sexuality; and Uranus represents the nervous system, strength and intuition. ⠀
The little finger is connected to Mercury: representing quickness and the mental power of communication.
By curling, crossing, stretching, and touching the fingers and palms, we can effectively talk to the body and mind. The position the hand takes is called a mudra and is a technique for giving clear messages to the mind-body energy system. Just as letters are combined in a multitude of ways to form different words, so can the fingers build an array of mudras that we find in Kundalini Yoga. If you’ve taken my Course, Awaken by the Ritual or taken part in any of my offerings, you will know that Kundalini Yoga is part of the construct. In this modality, the hands are always used, implemented in some way in the meditation to wake up a specific pathway or to create a connection between the mind and body.
The hands are, in fact, an extension of the heart chakra.
I invite you to feel the connection between your hands and your heart. When you prepare food, touch yourself, others, and things, or use your hands in many other ways, feel that your heart is directing and feeding their movements.⠀
The more we learn about touch and the power within our hands, the more we realise just how central it is in all aspects of our lives – cognitive, emotional, developmental, behavioral – from womb into old age. It’s no surprise that a single touch can affect us in multiple, powerful ways.
The way I see it: My hands are an extension of my energy field, my hands are my link to the rest of the world and the path to my own spirit. Through my hands I can predict the future, through my hands I can observe the past, access my heart, through my hands I can summon the power to heal myself. The magic lies in one’s hands; they are a direct line to one’s heart, the seat of the soul. Through the fingertips alone one can touch and feel the seen and unseen and reach out to another. Never underestimate the power you yield within the palm of your hand.
